I'm a goal setter. I love to sit and write down my goals at the beginning of every year/month/week/day, and then accomplishing them gives me happiness like no other.
So in the early hours of 2014, as I sat atop Mission Peak, my legs aching from the strain of pushing myself and my brother up the hill, my eyes watering from the wind, trying to soak in the natural beauty surrounding me, my mind turned to my blog, and what I'd like to do with it this year.
PS: I finally hiked Mission Peak, which means I crossed off item 1 from my bucket list!
1. Write more.
With my schedule and where I am in life, I can't commit to writing every day, or even 5 times a week, but I'd like to shoot for 3. I tend to waste a ton of time while I'm writing my posts- going on Facebook or checking out what the rest of the Internet is doing. All I have to do is focus on writing and I'm golden. I'm so excited about this I even made a blog planner to keep myself on track :)
clearly, I had a lot of fun doing this.
2. Make more blog friends.
While I love love love the blog friends I already have (hi guys!), I definitely want to get to know more of you, because y'all are amazing. I think Noor said it best when she said you can never have enough blog besties!
3. Participate in at least two exchanges.
I love getting mail. I mean, who doesn't? And how better to accomplish goal #2 than to take time to get to know a couple of bloggers well enough to send them a package full of things they love? Have you ever done an exchange? What was your experience like?
4. Figure out how to use Pinterest and Twitter.
As of now, literally all my blog traffic comes from Facebook and Bloglovin'. I'm so lost on using Pinterest and Twitter to pull traffic to the blog, so any tips would be MUCH appreciated!
5. At least 1 recipe post per month and a monthly goals post at the beginning of the month
Y'all really love those, and it'll help me be more accountable.
Any other goals I should definitely add? What are you looking to do for 2014? Let me know in the comments below!
xo, Hima
I just uploaded my goals too, if you're interested! Pinterest and twitter will be fine! :) good luck with blogging more and making more blog friends! :) :)
ReplyDeleteI've made a few goals too, but haven't posted them! I love your goals (especially #2) :D
ReplyDeletexoxo, Lizzy
Thanks for joining us Hima! Congrats on the climb, that photo is gorgeous! You have some pretty amazing goals and I have no doubt you will be able to make all of them happen. I do the same thing when I write out my posts... I am so guilty of jumping on Pinterest for a minute (which then turns into an hour)! Happy New Year and thanks again for linking up with Khala and I!
ReplyDeleteIt was actually the hardest hike I've ever done, but SO worth it! I hope so- this post alone has introduced me to a bunch of new people. Thanks for hosting!
DeleteI am in the same boat. I only have twitter but no facebook. I just signed up for pinterest and I have NOOO idea how to use it. We need to figure this out together. And good to see your #5. About monthly goals. Fits perfect with my new blog hop! Can't wait to see your ideas.
ReplyDeleteI want to be your blog friend! I am looking for one too! I love reading your blog and maybe we coukd follow each other!!
ReplyDeletexx, Cathy from http://helllo-cathy.blogspot.com/
Yeah, definitely! I love meeting new people :)
DeleteI cannot handle how beautiful that picture is! Oh how I long for adventure in 2014. And I love your goals. I've been doing twitter for a while, but I just don't get how to interact with people on there!
ReplyDeleteI'm loving your list, Hima! Thank you so much for joining our link-up today! Your blog is lovely and we have many of the same goals! One of my goals this year is to pen pal with some of my blogging besties- I think there's something so fun and precious about snail mail. Let me know if you're interested! Have a fabulous beginning of the year girlie! xo
ReplyDeleteThanks Khala! I would LOVE to pen pal- it's been on my bucket list for ages! :)
DeleteWhen you figure out twitter, let me know.... I'm still confused by it. haha! You have great goals!

You and me, girl. you and me both!
DeleteGreat Goals!! I plan on making more bloggy friends as well. PS-I have been trying to figure Twitter out for over a year now, still can't get with the program. I believe us as writers take too much time figuring out what to say and by the time we do, the Tweet Topics have changed. Good luck on your goals, I will definitely be back to read more!
ReplyDeleteYay, let's be friends! I think of the weirdest things to say on twitter, but it's the whole conversation thing that I'm confused by!
DeleteCongrats on your climb and being able to cross something off of your bucket list! I think your blogging goals are awesome. I'm pretty active on Twitter but seem to get most of my social traffic from Facebook still...
ReplyDeleteThank you! :) The bucket is growing by the minute!
DeleteI also want to write more, I completely understand when it comes to distractions. I am literally the queen. & with college it is so hard to write as much as I would like too. It is like we are twins. For Twitter and Pinterest I can totally help you out. They are pretty much some of my favorite things in the world! Hope you are extremely successful in your blogging adventures this year. I am so glad I came across your blog. New friend right here with out a doubt!

Congratulations on marking off one of the items on your Bucket List. So far, the only thing on my Bucket List is to actually come up with a Bucket List! ;) I'm still not good about Twitter, but Pinterest is kind of a no brainer, so no worries there. Pin what you love, or what you find useful, including your own stuff, and it will start to spread. [#FTSF]
ReplyDeleteI was soo happy when I crossed it off! I love spending time on Pinterest- it's just getting traffic to my blog that I'm worried about!
DeleteThese goals are great , so proud of you girl ;) go on with planning , I'll be focusing on photography and planning too . Let's ship this boat together . Thanks for mention , buddy.
ReplyDeleteI really like the idea of doing blogging goals, but I've never really put them out there. Maybe this year should be the year for me :) And I love these ideas, btw!
ReplyDeleteOh god, the twitter problem. I fully understand your dilemma. I enthusiastically made an account but haven't really been using it because I'm just not sure how. The facebook account is still on the list of things I'm dreading too. Once you have figured it out, let us know. :)
ReplyDeleteSylvia
We'll figure it out together! :)
DeleteHooray! I can't wait to post my goals now. Although mine aren't necessarily all blog related. I want to make more blog friends this year too!
ReplyDeleteWell, I'll be your blog friend! I'd love to read yours!
Deletehaha, I so don't even really know how to use Pinterest to this day. Twitter I still feel like I'm getting the hang of. Most of the time I don't know what to say.
ReplyDeleteGreat minds think a like! I got a blog planner too! LOL It's awesome. I literally have post ideas started or written out through March! {{Is that normal?!}}
ReplyDeleteSo you are lost on pinterest eh? That is my spot! I basically just about pin all the pictures on my blog and almost all get repinned. You never know what someone will like, and honestly - have you ever found anything on pinterest that you were like WTH? Nope. So pin-away! My problem is with FB - I can NOT figure out how to grow it. UGH.
Happy New Year!
Thank you so much for linking up! I hope to see you next week!
oh man, Pinterest is where it is at! :) I actually get most of my referral traffic from pinterest. I bet those recipe posts will help drive traffic from pinterest :)
ReplyDeleteand thanks for linking up with Treat Yo Self Thursday!
Let's be friends! I also want to meet new blogging friends and 2014 is the year for it. I think I connected with you awhile back on my old blog, but back in July, I deleted it and stepped away from blogging for a bit. That much needed break was exactly what I needed. I am now the proud owner of http://www.tamijardine.com/ and I love it.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to reconnecting with you over here.
Tami :)
I keep hearing Google+ is great for driving traffic to your blog. I still don't know exactly how to use it though.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE Pinterest. I use it primarily as a bookmarking system for all the things I want to go back too, but also as a way to spread my blog/memes around.
I tweet a lot. It's hard to get traffic from Twitter - at least it is for me, and I've heard others say the same thing. Just to give you an idea of my experience on Twitter, I didn't have more than two pageviews a day from Twitter until I had over 1000 followers. I now have over 7800 and I average only 18 pageviews/day from Twitter. I write humor though. If you're going to do other things, then you may have more success than me.
The best things that have come out of my blogging has been the great writing experience and the awesome friends I've made.
Thanks for linking up with us!
Good luck!
