The 10 Calorie Starbucks Frappucino

Hey y'all! So for me, summer means heat, which means the inevitable craving for a cold drink. Since I'm not a huge iced coffee drinker, I gravitate towards frappucinos. They're delicious, but they can run upwards of 450 calories and $4, which can add up to a lot! After seeing a deliciously frothy-looking 10-calorie drink on Instagram (@pbeechie), I was inspired to do a little experimenting of my own, and I've come up with what I think is the perfect Starbucks drink. It's a little lighter calorie and money wise, which is always a win!
Okay, so this comes out a little differently each time (which accounts for the color difference in the pictures), but it's delicious!
  • Venti cup, filled 3/4 of the way with ice and water
  • double blended with
    • 1 pump espresso (this is up to you, but I can't take too much coffee)
    • 2 pumps sugar-free caramel syrup
    • 2 pumps sugar-free vanilla syrup
Your barista might hate you, but it shouldn't be too bad if you write it down on your phone and show it to them (yes I did this oops), and it comes out to $2.00-2.50!

Let me know if you try this, because it's bomb! :)

  9. This is basically an iced americano with a ton of syrups. Sugar-free syrups may have fewer calories but there's plenty to be said about the adverse effects of sugar alcohols. Just two notes to be wary of!

But, here's another tip: make it with almond or soy milk if you'd like a milky consistency for fewer calories.

  13. It's not that sweet, but I think it's just the shot of caffeine and frappucino-ish texture. And that sounds amazing- ive got to try that!

  14. Thanks for the note Ashley! I definitely am aware of the problems with sugar free syrups, but for someone who has Starbucks maybe once or twice a month like me, the effects are probably minimal :)
Definitely trying the milk tip next time!

  17. Bahahahah is it bad that I literally don't care at all if they hate me? Whoops. My drink is a blonde roast poured over ice, and they always despise me for it. Most of the time they tell me that can't do it lololol but I DON'T CARE GIVE ME MY DRINK!!!!

  18. Whaaat, why?! Maybe the barista was just having a bad day :(

  19. LOLOL What do you do when they say they can't do it? But yeah literally it's NOT that hard to throw it in the blender for a few seconds!!

  20. I just tell them that they can and I tell them how to make it haha I'm so mean sometimes.

  21. As a barista at Starbucks, I've made way more complicated drinks. But, when you say 1 pump espresso...do you mean a shot? or 1 pump of frap roast? Also, it would be easier for the barista if you said Ice and water to the top line, instead of 3/4. It might also create a more uniform drink! But also, on the note of everyone being mean to baristas, we take a lot of crap from mean customers, if you've never worked in food service you should work in it at least once and know what kind of things we go through on a daily basis.

  22. Thanks for the tips! And yes, I definitely mean a shot! I'm sorry if I came across as mean- I was trying to show how to make the experience as pleasant as possible for everyone. Everyone who has made this for me has always appreciated when I write it down :) Kudos to you for putting up with everything!

  23. No problem! :) I didn't mean you were being mean! It's nice when people have things written out and explain it! I more meant people in the comments complaining!
