We've all seen them- hair masterfully curled, make up flawless, perfectly pleated shirts, and sky high heels. Not only is every outfit perfectly color and season coordinated, their nails are painted to match, and their jewelry looks like it should be on the runway. Each one of their 20 pictures per post is magazine-worthy, with beautiful barn backdrops or in rustic tea shops. As I peruse through these posts, a singular thought stands out in my mind- I could never be a fashion blogger. Here's why:
1. Most of my outfits look like this, with variations on top. Leggings, boots or flats, and a blouse. Today, I happened to be cold in the 70 degree California weather, so I threw on a jacket.
2. I do not have beautiful #ootd locations. Beautiful barns? Nope. Cultured cities? Nope. Vintage tea shops? Nope. My mirror at home? Yes. Brick walls because my school was built in 1965? Yes. A lot. Check out this post for more evidence of that.
3. I take most of my pictures with my pathetic phone, and I do not have 3000 pictures, from every possible angle, showcasing every possible detail of my outfits. Nope, just one for Instagram. Also, as lovable as I am, no one wants to take 3000 pictures of someone else.
4. When I find something I like, I wear it. A lot. This morning my mother said, and I quote "Hima, you're such a hobo. This is the third day in a row you're wearing that jacket." I LIKE IT AND IT'S WARM OKAY LEAVE ME ALONE.
5. I could never live up to my swagalicious (hi somya) parents. I mean, look at that deep v-neck. And mom, those hammer pants. #werk. You're also really cool with your gang signs.
I only wish I had inherited their coolness.
xo, Hima
I could NEVER be a fashion blogger because I literally wear the same thing every day. Its kind of my style to do that but there is nothing interesting about my outfits.
ReplyDeleteEven though I am a self-proclaimed fashion blogger, this is great! Hahaha I love the last one about your parents!
ReplyDeleteI can't even curl my hair (don't laugh, please)... so, I don't even have the fundamental skills to be a fashion blogger, let alone the skill to piece together a good lookin outfit on a daily basis.
ReplyDeleteI wish I had half... hell, even 1/4th of fashion/beauty bloggers skills!
Haha!! Hima!! To be honest - fashion posts are a crap ton of work and while I use my tripod a lot - my pooor ppooooorrrr sweeeettt husband gets roped in to take a lot of pictures LOL and yes - he would agree with you, no matter how much he loves me - taking abazillion pics from 400 different angles ain't fun!
ReplyDeleteMy problems are, I am a shorty and I look so dang awkward in ootd photos. I can never get the right pose.
ReplyDeleteI love this. LOVE. I feel so awkward in pictures. I just can't.
ReplyDelete:) I would wear that jacket everyday too - it's super cute!
ReplyDeletehahaha! Girl you could fashion blog! You are so cute. I love those photos of your parents! They are so hip!
ReplyDeleteI am in agreement...I could never be a fashion blogger either! Love your pics and reasons!
ReplyDeleteThis is so funny. I post every so often a "fashion" post but never could consider myself a fashion blogger for your exact reasons. I definitely don't have enough outfits to showcase a different one everyday here on the blog. Great post girl, and there's nothing wrong with wearing your fave jacket everyday of the week!!
ReplyDeleteI definitely feel you! I don't think people would be interested in what I have to wear every day!
ReplyDeleteLOL, thank you! Can't live up to those vnecks and harem pants!
ReplyDeleteDon't worry- I don't know how to curl my hair either! And I straighten it approximately once every few months- i don't have time to be a fashion blogger!
ReplyDeleteI feel you! I make my friends take 500 pictures so I can find one I look okay in!
ReplyDeleteI definitely agree. "Unconditional love" from my parents does not extend to taking a bazillion different pictures of me.
ReplyDeleteI looove your fashion posts though!
Aww thank you Erica! I know- the nineties were a good time for fashion!
ReplyDeleteHaha thank you! It's too much work for me!
ReplyDeleteIt's okay, I am trying to be a fashion blogger and sometimes I feel inadequate! Thanks for stopping by my blog!
ReplyDeletewww.amemoryofus.blogspot.com
I love this! All good reasons... but it's still fun to try the fashion post thang every once in a while :)
ReplyDeleteOh good, I'm glad someone agrees with me! Fsshion is hard- who has the time to document it?
ReplyDeleteHaha, love this post. Leggings are my everyday go to as well!
ReplyDeleteNo way, you always have the cutest outfits! LOVE your blog!
ReplyDeleteThank you Jacky! So sad I couldn't link up this week, but I'll be there next time!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely! I applaud all fashion bloggers out there!
ReplyDeleteThey're just so comfy!!
ReplyDeleteI would love to be a fashion blogger but I am in the same boat as you. My wardrobe is limited and I don't have any good places to take photos... or someone to take them for me haha
ReplyDeleteToo funny! I don't think I could ever be a fashion blogger either for some of the same reasons ;)
ReplyDeletelol I love this!!! I could totally never be a fashion blogger. Though, I admit, that sometimes I try. ha ha
ReplyDeleteI would like to grow slowly into being a fashion blogger, and brick could be a terrific backdrop! I think you could do it if you really want to! <3
ReplyDeletelove this post, i agree i do not think i can be a fashion blogger. I am told i dress well but i dress confortable for me and I have no one to take pics
ReplyDeleteYou are so cute!
ReplyDeleteYou still have years ahead of you to develope your own sense of coolness :) Wish you have a lot of fun doing it!
ReplyDeleteYou actually look really fashionable to me, but what do I know? I am so not a fashion person. I am a pony tail and T-shirt gal with little or no accessories LOL.
ReplyDeleteOh PS- Nice digs at your poor parents LOL.
ReplyDeleteYou are too cute. I could never be a fashion blogger either - I typically do my hair and makeup and then toss on jeans and a t-shirt lol. Love the pic of your dad haha!
ReplyDeleteI tried to be a fashion blogger once and it just didn't feel right, so I went back to my minimal self, lol. The pics of your parents are adorable !
ReplyDeletehaha i totally know what you mean! i wish i could pull it off.. dude those fashion and make up bloggers make a killing. but it's definitely a skill. love the photos of your family. :)
ReplyDeletei've been seriously trying to figure out how to break into that industry.. but i really am a minimalist too!
ReplyDeleteMy fashion posts are usually pictures of me in an outfit making funny faces. Could never be a fashion blogger!
ReplyDeleteI love this. I'm sure I couldn't be a fashion blogger either.
ReplyDeletei love this! totally true! i think this every time I read a blog on fashion. =)
ReplyDeleteThis is too funny. I tend to think the same thing. Like, how do people find these amazing places to take photos.
ReplyDeleteKatreena
Haha, I could definitely never be a fashion blogger either! The couple of pictures I've tried to take, I've miserably failed at!
ReplyDeleteThis is definitely a funny list! I definitely understand your reasons, though!
ReplyDeleteI could never be a fashion blogger as well but that more because I really don't like taking photos of myself :-)
ReplyDeletehahaha, these are the exact same reasons I could never be a fashion blogger! Also, I forget accessories. It's a special occasion if I remember to put on one of my million bracelets or necklaces!
ReplyDeleteI think you could be a fashion blogger personally! I really enjoyed your post and your sense of humor and character through your writing! ^_^
ReplyDeleteLove the throwbacks to your parents! I love seeing everyone post their fashion and style even if they don't consider themselves a fashion blogger. I pull inspiration from everywhere and a lot of the time it's so refreshing to see people wear clothes that I would actually wear :)
ReplyDeleteHahaha leggings FOREVER AND EVER girl! I'm also rather awkward in front of a camera so I don't think people really want to see me squinting in every picture or standing there awkwardly with a stiff smile
ReplyDeleteI love this! I joke about it all the time "I cant stand in a field and wear heels" is my fav
ReplyDeleteRight?! They can't all be selfies! Plus I go shopping, like once in three months and buy like 2 shirts!
ReplyDeleteIt's a struggle!
ReplyDeleteNothing wrong with trying! I'm sure you make a wonderful fblogger~The dramatic poses are just not for me :)
ReplyDeleteWith your makeup skills, you'd be an awesome fashion blogger. Thanks for the encouragement :)
ReplyDeleteSame! People tell me I dress well, but I don't think it's worthy of a blog post haha
ReplyDeleteglad to know there's someone who feels the same way :)
ReplyDeleteThank you Sierra! :)
ReplyDeleteMaybe I'll be as cool as my parents someday? ;) Thanks Joanna!
ReplyDeletehaha I don't think I've worn anything but workout clothes and tshirts this whole summer! My hair is only out because it's perpetually drying! My parents loved the photos :)
ReplyDeleteI skip the hair/makeup too! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteI think I have a couple of outfit posts, but they were such a hassle for me! They say thank you! :)
ReplyDeleteI think you could do it!
ReplyDeleteYeah they definitely do! My favorite is Carylee, from More Pieces of Me- she always looks so polished! And thank you!
ReplyDeleteI have some awesome fashion outtakes :)
ReplyDeleteI'm glad we can agree!
ReplyDeleteHow do they ALWAYS look so good!? No one will know!
ReplyDeleteRight!? It's like "Yes, please find me a town with wonderfully rustic barns and abandoned lots and pretty coffee shops and I'll be a fashion blogger"
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you could be, but I agree that it's hard!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
ReplyDeleteYou, my dear, are an amazing fashion blogger, and I look forward to your outfits! If only I could do the same!
ReplyDeleteI'm all for the occasional selfie, but I'm so awkward in most pictures!
ReplyDeleteYESSS x a million! I have so many accessories but 9 days out of 10, I'm not wearing anything other than just my clothes and flip flops!
ReplyDeleteAww thank you Amby! Maybe someday!
ReplyDeleteI definitely agree! I think anyone can be a fashion blogger if they're dedicated!
ReplyDeleteGuess what I'm wearing right now?! And yes- camera awkwardness is my downfall!
ReplyDeleteleggings are my life. and yes, it definitely works! You are an awesome fashion blogger :)
ReplyDeleteright!? your comment made me laugh!
