Things You Probably Didn't Know About Me Part 2

Read Part 1 here!
Hey y'all! Before I go subject myself to hours of bio for my exam tomorrow, I wanted to stop by and write a quick note. My favorite blog posts are the personal ones- whether they're super deep, or just a collection of little facts. Today I decided to share a little list of all the weird quirks I have- things you probably don't know, whether you know me personally or not.

*I believe that Powerpoints are like poetry. You have to put the right word in the right place

*I write notes on my notes. For example, in my history notes, "The Golden Gate Bridge was one o the Works Projects Administration [HOLLA at us- West Coast, Best Coast!]). I don't know why- i just do it.

* I Always sit super far forward on my chair. Like literally, on the forward most three inches.

*My joints crack a lot. My shoulder cracked as I was typing this, and my elbow cracked when I raised my hand in class today. It doesn't hurt though- I just don't know why!

*Pressing command-q instead of command-w on my laptop is the bane of my existence. It's definitely a first world problem though ;)

*I literally cannot do anything without someone else's advice or input. From Instagram filters to major life decisions- it's honestly a vice and it's something I'm working on.

Now for some completely random photos from this week, because what's a Friday post without a photo recap?

Formal day at school with my favorite Spanish teacher! (I don't actually go around taking photos with all my teachers okay- it was an Instagram challenge for my school

Look at this ADORABLE little polaroid from last week's dance! I'm obsessed with it.

Our math teacher was out for the day- for the first time ever! Also, I just noticed how color-coordinated we are.

Okay- your turn. Tell me something I probably don't know about you!

I'm Glow in the Dark

Hey y'all! We made it through another week, so now let's enjoy some pictures of me glowing in the dark okay?
This is from my school's annual Blacklight Rally. 1700 high school students, pitch black except for blacklights, and noise worse than your average fire drill.
Sounds like a nightmare right?
Nope, just the second funnest day of the school year. Except for homecoming, of course.
Unfortunately, I had to do more than just glow in the dark this week, including using my dog as a GPS.

What, your dog doesn't bark frantically to warn you of every oncoming car, stop sign, light, leaf, or breath of air?
She doesn't sit in the front like the queen of the world?
 Still not over Christmas.

Like I said on Instagram, I'm starting a new thing, called Selfie Wednesday. You should do it.
Or I just really needed a caption and an excuse to take a selfie. In other news, I've given up on my bangs and just pin them up every day.
We're using M&Ms to study probability in AP Bio, or as I like to call it, AP Candyology, and this is what I did instead of eating them. It's pretty.

How was your week?

AP Candyology, Mustache Shenanigans, and Vine Swingin'

First off, HAPPY FRIDAY.
This week felt like an eternity and I couldn't be happier that it's almost over.
From yummy coffee to candy-infused bio labs to the start of Movember, this week had everything.

1. I don't normally take selfies wearing fake mustaches, but when I do, it's for a good cause. Movember is an organization that promotes mens' health throughout the month of November by encouraging men to grow out their facial hair to raise awareness. Obviously, girls can't really do that, hence the fake mustache!
ohmygod did I just use hence.
What is happening to me.
[okay, moving on]
Our school is doing a huge campaign, which I've been working really hard to shamelessly promo, and I'm really excited about it!

2. AP Bio DNA Candy Models are the best! Never mind that I felt really sick for like 3 hours after because of all the sugar.

3, 4, 5. Leadership Ropes Course YAYAYAY. Okay, technically this was last week, but I didn't write about it, so it got pushed.
Imagine the best experience of your life. Now multiply it by infinity.
That was the ropes course. No, just kidding, but it was SO fun!
Thanks to Ian for the great photos!

Other than that, this week was pretty mellow, y'all. Here's to a wonderful 3 day weekend!

High Five for Friday- Birthday Edition!

It's pretty well accepted that birthdays are the best days of the year. Yes, better than Christmas, Thanksgiving, and Halloween combined.
Even if you've got school/work.
I had a Calculus and an AP Biology test on my birthday, as well as an event at school later that night, so I wasn’t expecting much on Tuesday.
I don’t know what I was thinking.

I woke up to pancakes and balloons and the sweetest card from my little brother.
My friends also made an adorable poster and brought me balloons and foods and it was just such a beautiful day. My best friend wrote me a card that is in her words "longer than my dog." Yes, I started crying when I read it.
I got the good eggs ya'll. I love them all to pieces.
(p.s. tests + event went swimmingly if you were wondering)

2. I got to update my boards!
Making prints and putting them up really reminds me of the people I love, and how lucky I am to have friends and family like them.

 3. This happened. I actually hit 100 on my birthday but I forgot to screenshot it.
Thanks so much ya'll.
love you!

4. A free PSL on my birthday. Remember my love for those?
Actually who doesn't want a free drink anytime (not THAT kind of drink. I'm 16!)
Quick sidenote: How annoying is it that I can't put my Starbucks gift card onto my actual Starbucks card? I want to be a gold member! #firstworldproblems #donthatemeforusingthat

5. Scarves + boots.
enough said.

How was your week? Any other September birthdays out there?
I'm having a big party on Saturday, and I'm so excited to do a recap for you!

Short and Sorta Sweet

My week, I mean.
What with Labor Day at the beginning, and a whirlwind junior year schedule, I've barely had time to breathe!
While it wasn't my best week ever (life hit me, but that's okay!), there were definitely high points.
From the beginning of fall fashion, to fall foods, to sweet dogs, and nice people, I'd say this was one of those weeks where the little things mean the most.

Clockwise, from top left.
1. Fall fashion is the greatest. Long cardigans? Purple pants? Everything fall? Please, come to me.

2. Overnight oat jars.
Ya'll. I have found yet ANOTHER use for those famed mason jars. Especially the itty bitty ones.
Oatmeal + Yogurt + Fruit. I'm in love. Look out for a recipe post about those jars of happiness coming soon!

3. Fall outfit #2. I think dresses are underrated in terms of comfort. I could live in these.

4. Puppy. She's SO cute when she's begging.

5. Within student government at school, we have Big-Littles, like in sororities! Yesterday my Big gifted me these adorable (and delicious!) brownies & encouraging card because she knew that my week wasn't the easiest.
Totally made up for everything!

I thought ya'll might like to start off your weekend with some of these great links I've found this week- enjoy!

Michelle's Fall Fashion choices from Anthro are divine.

Nicole wrote a great post about following your passion- definitely worth the read.

21 Parents who deserve to lose their Vine privileges. I confess that I watched each of them multiple times because they're so funny!

This spoken word poem on what teachers make. So powerful!

Share something from your week with me! :)

Is Chevron a Blogger Thing?

Ya'll. I'm confused. I used to not like chevron. Weird zig-zag stripes on zig-zag stripes? Uh....weird, right? And actually a little bit ugly.
And then I started my blog. Now?
"ohmygosh that's so cute!" Personally, I don't like anything except color + white combos, or mint + black but that's just me! What do you think?

Anyways, here's my question to you:

Is liking chevron a blogger thing? Why?

And here's what inspired that question- and obviously the beginning of my Friday Five:

1. We had to make puzzle pieces for Leadership (I'm on student government) to show that we're a family- how cute, right? I couldn't come up with anything, and than it hit me- CHEVRON!
Of course I left my orange marker at home, so I used highlighter.

2. Welcome Back Bash last Friday! I know this is a little late to write about this, but YOLO.
JK, I didn't say that.
Carpe diem.
There. SO much classier!
Photobooths, best friends, music and dancing.
Definitely a great night ya'll!
Don't mind the In N Out hat (Sidenote: HA you poor non-Californians don't even know what that is!)- it was a nautical theme and we don't have the budget for real sailor hats.

3. I found flat-ish land in California. NorCal, to be exact.
This is a rarity ya'll. The only elevation changes in sight were the mountains in the distance.
Notice the palm trees and evergreens in the same area.
#californialivin

4. I got Sperry's! I've been wanting these for FOREVER and I'm totally obsessed with them.
Seriously.
I've worn them three days in a row. I never do that.

5. Not really a high...but I'm getting my wisdom tooth taken out today.
Yes, you heard read that right.
I only have one. My bio teacher says that it mean I'm a "highly evolved human."
Honestly, as long as I can get my homework done for the weekend.

What was your experience like? Wish me luck!!!

Fish are friends, not food

This week was a pretty good one overall! I like (most of) my teachers, I think they like me, and it's been great seeing my friends every day again! More to come on that later- I got a great post idea from one of my favorite blogs, Noor's place.
Go check her out guys! She's my age and absolutely hilarious!

Anyway, let's high five for friday!

Clockwise:
1. So I asked my little brother to make me a binder cover for Spanish because he's artistic and I'm not. I gave him one rule: Make it pretty. 20 minutes later, he comes up to me with this. Seriously, how cute is this? And he even remembered to put in my Spanish name!
2. We did a goldfish lab in AP Bio! This was our fish, Lucy! Even though she wasn't a clownfish or a Blue Tang (aka Dory), she made me think of Finding Nemo, and the famous line, "Fish are friends, not food."
#disneymovielover
3. My brother loves to train Bella, and I love this picture I have of her jumping over the blocks!
4. This post. Definitely a highlight! I love finding fun apps to edit photos on my phone! This one is called Mirrord2.
5. My friend Ruchi drew a portrait of me in Leadership. I think it's fabulous :)

How about you? H54Fs are some of my favorites posts to read/write, so leave me a link in the comments below to check out!

Highlights

In no particular order, I have for you the very best things of my week. Does it ever occur to you that my top five events are also the five things that I happen to take pictures of?

That's okay, right? Moving on!

1. On Thursday, at work, we had a "Women in Science" brunch, and all the girls had to write something that inspired them on their butterflies. We stuck them all on this sign, and it looked so pretty!

2. Straightened my hair earlier this week! It's getting so long now- I love it! :)

3. I went to San Francisco with my mom after work on Thursday, which is always a treat. I was struck by the beauty of having mountains/hills on the right side of the road, and the ocean on the left.
Oh, how I love this city.
My heart will always be in San Francisco.

Garbanzo beans, chard, and mushrooms with quinoa.

Beet and black bean burger with fries.

4. Dinner in SF at the cutest vegetarian/vegan restaurant ever: Source! It gives off that beautiful San Francisco vibe: a little bit hippie, a little bit hipster, and wonderfully green! you HAVE to go if you're ever in SF.

5. I got this text from my student and I wanted to cry. Why does summer have to end?

What were the highlights of your week?
Also, any ideas to name these posts more creatively?

Five

I stole this title from Lauren, but then again, I'm not sure it's super original anyway. Either way, it's Friday, and it's time for a run down of the top 5 happy moments from this week!
Sidenote: I totally put the selfie in the larger box, but then I decided I was being too narcissistic, so I switched it out for the pretty scenery.

Clockwise from left to right:

1. This is the boarding school where I'm teaching bio at summer school. It's the prettiest place on the planet, and they have their own bridge and creek!
2. ELEPHANT TOOTHPASTE! The science department is doing this for department introductions, and it's absolutely amazing.
Watch this video to see more!

3. My brother has cowboy boots. I'm jealous.
4. I ducked into this store at Santana Row because it was really loud outside and I was on the phone, and then I was amazed by all the gorgeous stationary. I have way too many notebooks already, so it was a struggle to walk out of there empty-handed. What would you have done?
5. I got a new scarf .It's gorgeous!

What were your favorite parts of this week? Let me know in the comments below!
