HI everyone! Sorry for being SUCH a horrible blogger lately! The last two weeks have been a blur of no wifi, whirlwind travels, and before school stuff starting up again, so I haven't had time to blog or read all of your blogs. I also hella procrastinated on summer homework so I'm up to my ears in that right now :( Fortunately, there is one thing that keeps me going every week- music! Since this week was a lot of work/quiet time, my playlist is super slow and kind of trance-esque
I don't know what it is about Jack Johnson, but I just LOVE listening to him when I'm working. His voice is just so calming and makes me happy. (Yes, even with the infamous Pina Colada song). Let me know what your favorite song from this playlist is and please link up your latest playlist below! :)
Hey y'all! Today I'm out of town again (this time in North Carolina- follow me on Instagram to keep up!) but I can't wait to get back and tell you guys about Crater Lake. SO many pictures to go through. Until then, check out this week's Monday Melodies link-up!
My playlist this week is different then most of mine thus far. I was listening to my work playlist when I came across a couple of songs by Foxes that I used to listen to ALL the time, and totally forgot about, so I re-fell in love with those. I also found this new (to me) group called Anthem Lights that does the BEST covers. I loved listening to the Best of 2013 Mash-up- brought back so many memories and songs I had forgotten about. Have you ever heard of them?
We also have our very own button that you can put into your blog post/on your sidebar. (I just realized how not exciting this is and how excited about this I am. Oh well, #bloggerproblems)
What have you been listening to this week? Let me know in the comments below! :)
Hey y'all! I'm enjoying Crater Lake in Oregon right now, but we couldn't leave you hanging with Monday Melodies! This week's playlist is really an amalgam of songs that have really caught my interest this week- songs I've been humming unconsciously, singing in the shower/car, and working out to. True story- my workout buddy Monica and I created a plank challenge to Something I Need, by One Republic, because we are so in love with the song. Completing the challenge is a work in progress! ;)
Any songs on here that we have in common? Any songs that should be on Monday Melodies next week? Let me know in the comments below :)
xo, Hima
P.S. I'm guest-posting at blog goddess Helene's place today about my most-hated first world problems! Go check it out!
Hey y'all! So we're back this week with the second Monday Melodies link-up, and like I said last week, my playlist is going to be my favorite road trip songs. We're going to Crater Lake at the end of July (and I'm driving!), so the perfect playlist is a must.
1. Easy to Love- Maxi Priest. I love the reggae beats and tones of this song mixed with the funky synth sounds. Plus, it's super easy to sing along to!
2. No Matter Where you Are- Us the Duo. Ever since my friend Divya told me about Us the Duo, I have been obsessed! They're a husband-wife duo, and their voices together are like melted caramel and a land of rainbows and 365 days of sunshine.
3. Oceans- Coasts. I went to the beach again yesterday, and everything ocean/beach has been my jam lately. This is a very Mumford and Sons-esque song (idk that's what I thought), and I love it!
4. Come With Me Now- KONGOS. I don't understand this song. It's just a country-pop vibe that is super catchy, and to be honest, I think country-inspired beats work the best for road trips.
5. Chandelier- Sia. Okay so I'm cheating and just putting down one of my faves, but this song straight up gives me chills. Everyone in the car with me knows that I can't hit the high notes, but I will screech along like a dying elephant anyway because it's just so good!
And now for everyone's favorite part, the link up!
So, SUPER sorry I missed Monday Melodies last week. It was just a really late Sunday and I was not feelin' the blogging vibe. Today is the first link-up opportunity, so I'd LOVE for you to link up any recent music-related posts (concert recaps, playlists, etc), at the bottom of this post. Like I said two weeks ago, my theme for this playlist is summer, so I've put together some of my favorite summer songs today.
Knee Deep- The Zac Brown Band. Yes, this song is country as cowboy boots and horseback rides, and yes, I am a California girl through and through, but there's just something about this song that evokes summer and relaxation for me.
Walking on Sunshine- Aly and AJ. This song is my happy place. It's my pump-up song, my happiness song, and my summer song.
All Summer Long- Kid Rock. Besides the obvious title, this is just an all around fun song with good vibes that make me think of nights at the beach bonfire, playing a guitar and chilling with friends and family.
Life is A Highway- Rascal Flatts. Summer usually means at least one road trip for my family, and this is the perfect roadtrip song to sing to with the windows rolled down on the highway. Also this is in Cars which is like the best movie ever.
Rather Be- Clean Bandit ft. Jess Glynne. This may not have anything to do with summer, per se, but it's my current jam and it's summer, soooo? Plus its my blog and I do what I want.
In light of our upcoming family road trip to Crater Lake, I'm centering next week's playlist around my favorite road trip songs, and you're welcome to do the same, although you don't have to :)
OKAY now's the fun part you've all been waiting for. Link up your music related posts below! xo, Hima
Hey y'all! Hope you're having a fantabulous Tuesday. Since I'm not feeling so hot, I've been drinking a TON of tea. So this is kind of my life right now: hitting the books, drinking tea, and being sick. So, how perfect is this link-up for today? I'm kind of obsessed with Jacky and her British-themed blog, so check it out! :)
One of the best parts about blogging is meeting new friends from across the world. I've done this by participating in many link-ups and blog networks over the past year. After much deliberation, I've decided it's time to start my own. Since my blog has a major British theme going on, I thought a weekly tea party would be the perfect way to bring bloggers together. Of course you don't actually have to drink tea while you link up... but it is preferred! The rules are pretty simple - you can link up ANY type of post you'd like (fashion, travel, recipes, etc). I just ask that you link back and follow me and whoever might be co-hosting.
Speaking of co-hosts - if you're interested in co-hosting a future Tea Party Tuesday, please email me here.
The (easy-peasy) Rules:
1. Link up ANY post and link back here.
2. Follow Keep Calm and Blog On and your co-host(s).
3. Visit at least three other bloggers below and say hello.
Sip your tea and nibble your crumpets - let's hop to it...
Welcome to A Lovely Blog Hop, where each Thursday we have the grand opportunity to meet and connect with lovely new bloggers, such as myself! Now you have something to do and somewhere to go on Thursdays!
Enjoy!
Rules (Not really rules but a guide):
1. Follow your host and any co-hosts (if it applies). Co-hosts will be the first 3 to 5 entries.
I am your host, Rekita @ Her&Nicoleand I am the first linky.
Feel free to leave a comment and introduce yourself!
2. Link it!
Link up your blog or anything else you find lovely. Share your family, fashion, food, crafts, or anything that you love this week. Please, please, please, share the love and include a link back to this blog hop.
3. Spread it!
This is a blog hop after all, so hop around! Visit other blogs and say Hi!
4. Grab it!
Grab the button and place it somewhere in your blog or add just the link. Preferably in your blog post.
This will help us promote this blog hop, believe me, the more the merrier! Or post the link somewhere in your blog.
